Michael Torian
Nashville, Tennessee
A native of Louisiana, Michael Torian moved to Nashville from New Orleans
in 1993. His black and white photography of Louisiana scenes, variously
described as 'mysterious', 'romantic', and 'timeless', initially earned
him recognition in that state. With the publication of his "Morning
Fog" print in 1991, depicting Audubon Park in New Orleans, Michael's
work began to receive national exposure. In addition to his outdoor
photography, Michael has garnered praise for his imaginative use of
everyday objects as subject matter, taking advantage of natural light,
reflection, and shadows to make them seem more interesting. He alternates
between black and white and color photography depending on the subject
matter and the feeling he is attempting to convey to the viewer.
Michael, a practicing attorney, is also a gifted songwriter.
