Lydia Wilson
Nashville, Tennessee
As a kid, I was one of those who painted on everything, welcomed or not.
I sometimes refer to being an artist as "this bad habit of mine" because
it is never-ending. I have always responded to the visual. My work
encompasses decorative painting, scenic painting, porcelain and raku
pottery, as well as handcrafted mosaic tile artworks and installations.
One thing leads to another as scenic merges into decorative painting;
hand built pottery becomes mosaic, in a style I call "Byzantine Funk."
My raku pottery reminds me of ancient objects, and I allow this element
to lead the design. My artistic influences grow daily, although Gustav
Klimt is my most brilliant inspiration.
