Leila Platt has lived in Tennessee since 1968. With a degree in Art History from Vanderbilt University, Leila also studied in Aix-en-Provence, France, the University of Tennessee, North Texas State University, Memphis Academy of Art, and the University of Memphis. She taught school for three years and served as a crafts teacher and part-time illustrator for the Nashville Board of Parks and Recreation.

A gifted watercolorist, Leila now devotes most of her artistic talents to her oil paintings. Over 70 of her paintings have been reproduced into prints and posters by three different publishers, and are sold internationally. Her original work can be found in numerous corporate and private collections.
