Jann Harrison views herself as an interpreter for the viewer, and she seeks
the most dynamic means of accomplishing this end. One may expect to
experience a delightful array of magical color as it bursts forth from
her canvas and paper pieces. Her love of painting and printmaking are
evident in her oil monoprints. Monoprinting, a five hundred-year-old
technique, is known as the painter's printmaking technique of choice.
This artist is quite at home with a number of different media and techniques
and takes full advantage of the combination of these in order to present
the viewer with the most exciting and unique perspective possible.
Jann holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Tennessee.
She has studied with Clark Stewart, Whitney Leland, Carl Sublett, and
the late Byron McKeeby, among others.
In October of 1997, Jann was awarded the first place in the juried show
of works included in Nashville's ARTRAGEOUS evening, the tenth anniversary
celebration of the progressive gallery tour and party. Jurists included
representatives from the Art Source in Los Angeles and the High Museum
of Atlanta as well as his honor Mayor Phil Bredesen.
Jann's paintings are a part of private collections throughout the United
States and abroad. She resides in Nashville with her three daughters
and three dogs.
