Jacqueline
Saporiti was born in 1949 in Saigon, Viet Nam to Vietnamese French parents
and was raised bilingual, enriched by two cultures. In 1968 after obtaining
a Baccalaureate in Classics, Jacqueline was offered an academic scholarship
to attend Elizabethtown College, PA majoring in German and Psychology. She
continued her liberal arts studies at Boston University and art classes quickly
became an important part of the curriculum as she gained the technical experience
in drawing, illustration, painting in oils and watercolor, and the different
methods of printmaking with a strong preference to zinc plate etching.
Art remained an active part of her life as she worked for Berlitz
as a teacher and a translator. Jacqueline continued to study art and
design and supplemented her income in custom fashion confection. She
has exhibited and sold her work through private and public shows as
well as galleries since 1994. Using acrylics as a foundation, Jacqueline
works in oils on a variety of different surfaces, using palette knives,
brushes, fingers, spraying and blotting to achieve the desired depth
of a multi layered effect. Subjects are random, a vehicle to express
her feelings rather than the obvious object. Jacqueline views colors
as splendors afforded by nature and enjoys all the values of each of
her palettes which are also expressions of feelings rather than the
physical reality.
