A native of Venice, Italy, Franco Dei Rossi was trained in the classical
fashion at the prestigious Accademia art school in Venice. After experimentation
in various styles and subject matter, Franco has settled comfortably
into his signature style soft-focus impressionist cityscapes of Venice.
While occasionally painting depictions of Tuscan landscapes, his real
passion is the ancient city of Venice, its stunning architecture, and
of course, its canals.
Franco Dei Rossi's paintings express an artistic vision perfectly attuned
to their environment in emotions and immediacy, unfolding their message
from memory to reality. Past and present yield to our eyes splendid
images that spring from the relationship between visual arts and life,
enfolding moments of exquisite poetical enchantment in a nature depicted
with a very delicate and gentle sense of color and atmosphere, bathed
in a soft light peopled with shadows and very personal mysteries.
The beautiful works by Franco are pictorial images in which the soft shaded
colors are diluted in the compactness of spatiality from which emerge
the sense of time and hints of wonderful visions of Venice and magnificent
landscapes such as Santa Maria della Salute, Gondolas, the Entrance
into the St. Mark's Basin, the Customs House Point, and others.
